Yeah, I know some of you are going to call me a big girl because I love taking photos of flowers, but what can I say, flowers are really pretty, and can make for some really stunning photos. The fact that no two flower is really alike means that there is always a huge scope for the amateur photographer to show his stuff.
Roses always make a popular photographic subject. You may pick a pinkish one;

A red one, whose petals look almost velvety;

Then again, perhaps one with a yellowish tinge to it.

Perhaps we should take a shot of a single tulip;

Or a bed of tulips;

Whatever you choose you can be sure that the lighting you choose can make all the difference;

They can be a delicate simple flower;

Or and intricate busy one complete with bugs.

Whatever flower you choose, you can be sure that photo options they can provide is almost endless.

I’m not calling you a girl; these are great shots. My camera can’t get anything to look this good so close up; then again, it’s a cheap digital, so I wouldn’t expect it would.

Thanks Mitch. I’m actually saving up for a SLR because while this one takes pretty good pictures the clarity and crispness just isn’t their. I need a camera with a real good lens and an SLR would do the trick.

It stands for Single Lens Reflex; The lenses on these cameras can be interchanged so you can use telephoto, wide angle and other lenses. These lenses are of a much higher quality than you get on your everyday point and shoot cameras and therefore the quality of your photos are vastly superior.

Hi Sire – I just loved that pruple flower. So peaceful and lively at the same time. Simply gorgeous ♥.
It’s so sad that I have a digital recorder that takes pictures but I don’t know how to use it :(
Oh well- maybe sometime I’ll take the time to go read the huge manual on it.
All the best,
Eren

Hi Eren, it’s so nice to have you drop in. I;m glad you liked the photos. As to the digital recorder, I don’t think it will hurt to experiment with it a little.
Those are some great shots. I really enjoy shooting flowers; they never complain about how long you’re taking to frame the shot!

Yeah, as long as you don’t pick a windy day.
Flower is one of my favorite objects to catch with camera, because it’s so beautiful and colorful. Sometimes my niece protests me because I take more flower photos rather than her photo :P
Just tell your niece that every time you look at the photo it reminds you of what a beautiful niece you have ;)
never been see great rose on my garden….

Sire – once again, looking good. I really like the looks of that onion flower. It’s not a breed I was familiar with… but would definitely enjoy getting the chance to take its portrait.

Thanks James. Not too shabby considering they were taken with a point and shoot. Can’t wait until I get my digital SLR
A great tip for flower photography is to carry a light blocker with you. It could be a collapsible reflector, large piece of cardboard, etc. Just so that you have something to block the direct sunlight and give the flowers an even shade to prevent harsh shadows and splotchy light patterns.
Thanks Randy, I’ll keep that in mind.
It’s always refreshing taking pictures of flowers, unfortunately they’re close to nowhere to be found in the city i live in, i’m forced to go for concrete and buildings pictures. But beauty can be found in many things, who am i to complain?

In that case Mary, even a weed sprouting out of a crack in the pavement would make for a striking subject in a concrete jungle.
