We have the Canon 5D Mark II and a 50D, but no 7D. I’ve tried the kit lens out, and it’s a solid lens to start with. Super fast autufocus and feels sturdy.

I’m glad you found the camera you’ve always wanted Kevin. I’ve actually just bought the Canon EOS 550D, and am still learning all it’s features. Once I get my head around it I’ll do a post on it.

I have just upgraded from a Nikon D60 over to the Canon 7D a few months back. It has been amazing! I have been pushing it lately in different situations, to see how well and how usable ISO 3200 and ISO 6400 are. I must say, I am blown away! The 8fps is awesome as well, especially with the amazing tracking abilities! I love to shoot automotive type photography like drag racing, and this camera makes it just too easy!

I’m looking to make an upgrade myself. I’m thinking of the Nikon d700 but this is a good camera to consider as well (I’m not too invested into Nikon lenses to make the switch cost prohibitive.)
