I’ve always found that animals make great subjects for a good photo, especially when they stand fairly still for you. I took these shots whilst waling down the River Torrens as it flowed quietly passed Adelaide.
There were quite a few ducks around as well but for this post I want to show you a couple of photos that I took of some swans and their ducklings. Speaking of ducklings I don’t know how the Ugly Duckling story ever came about because I found them quite cute.
This first shot is where they’re strolling calmly along the grassy virtues of the river bank. I must admit that the adult swan is really quite graceful, while the duckling while not as beautiful is certainly not what you would call ugly. Still makes for a good story I suppose.

This next one is of a pair swimming in the River Torrens. I rather like this one better than the previous one. Reckon the water provides a nice background.

Yeah, I know some of you are going to call me a big girl because I love taking photos of flowers, but what can I say, flowers are really pretty, and can make for some really stunning photos. The fact that no two flower is really alike means that there is always a huge scope for the amateur photographer to show his stuff.
Roses always make a popular photographic subject. You may pick a pinkish one;

A red one, whose petals look almost velvety;
Then again, perhaps one with a yellowish tinge to it.

Perhaps we should take a shot of a single tulip;

Or a bed of tulips;

Whatever you choose you can be sure that the lighting you choose can make all the difference;

They can be a delicate simple flower;

Or and intricate busy one complete with bugs.

Whatever flower you choose, you can be sure that photo options they can provide is almost endless.

This photo shows that you do not always have to get close to your subject, which is really pretty good as there are times when all you have is a point and shoot camera and that telephoto is just nowhere to be found.

I reckon that a silhouette of the koala and the tree itself is actually more powerful than if I was to show the subject in more detail. I don’t actually recall where the photo was taken other than it was some National Park on kangaroo Island.

There are many reasons why people take photos and I would say that the most important one is for recording memories. People take photos of memorable occasions such as weddings, the birth of a new baby, christenings, birthday parties or when their daughter’s dog does something unbelievably funny.

This is a photo of my daughter’s dog Zak, but I reckon we should call him
The Hulk because of the green complexion he got after rolling in the freshly cut lawn. I almost killed myself running down the steps in my rush to get the camera. There was absolutely no way I was going to let this moment slip by.
