Yeah, I know some of you are going to call me a big girl because I love taking photos of flowers, but what can I say, flowers are really pretty, and can make for some really stunning photos. The fact that no two flower is really alike means that there is always a huge scope for the amateur photographer to show his stuff.
Roses always make a popular photographic subject. You may pick a pinkish one;

A red one, whose petals look almost velvety;
Then again, perhaps one with a yellowish tinge to it.

Perhaps we should take a shot of a single tulip;

Or a bed of tulips;

Whatever you choose you can be sure that the lighting you choose can make all the difference;

They can be a delicate simple flower;

Or and intricate busy one complete with bugs.

Whatever flower you choose, you can be sure that photo options they can provide is almost endless.

There is nothing more relaxing than the sound of water as it rushes over pebbles down a creek bed and then over a small waterfall. This pool of water was only meters from Waterfall Gully’s First Falls.

We are currently in the midst of a drought here in South Australia and so the flow of water is minimal at the moment. I would love to come back after a considerable drop of rain to see what the difference would be.

This is a shot of the Silverband Falls located in The Grampians Victoria, just south of Halls Gap. This particular waterfall is quite unique in that the water disappears into the ground and reappears further down. As you can see the photo was taken with a slow shutter speed to give the water a flowing effect. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough light to use a fast shutter speed to ‘freeze’ the water flow, maybe next time.

The photo was taken with my trusty Minolta Dynax 7000i SLR

While strolling around it is always good to look for unique photographic opportunities. After awhile when you look at your surroundings it’s almost as if you are looking through a camera’s viewfinder, or these days the LCD screen. On many an occasion you will be able to use some of your surroundings to actually frame your selected image. On this particular occasion I used the silhouette of some plants to frame this picture I took at Hamilton Island.
