As I’ve mentioned in several posts I’ve been using a simple point and shoot camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50, and although it takes stunning shots it can’t compete with the the Digital SLR cameras. I have therefore decided to see what DSLR cameras are on the market because as soon as I find the right one I’m going to buy it, and once I do I hope to post some really stunning photos.

The first one I’m looking at which is in the higher range price category is the Canon EOS 7D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-inch LCD and 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Standard Zoom Lens

Product Features :

18.0-megapixel CMOS Sensor and Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors for high image quality and speed

Kit includes 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM standard zoom lens

Advanced HD movie mode with manual exposure control and selectable frame rates

Intelligent Viewfinder with 100 percent field of view; 19-point, all cross-type AF system equipped with dual diagonal cross-type sensors

Capture images to CF Card Type I and II, UDMA-compliant CF cards (not included)

One of the features I like about this camera is that it can take photo at 8fps which I assume means there is very little shutter lag, something I dislike about many of the digital cameras that I’ve used.

Even though it is able to shoot full HD video this doesn’t interest me as I have a great Sony camcorder that I use for that. I suppose though it may come in handy as I don’t always have my camcorder on me.

Another feature that I like is Canon’s new built-in Dual Axis Electronic Level which shows both horizontal roll and vertical pitch making it really easy to get nice level shots while shooting. I hate taking photos only to find out when seeing it on the computer that it’s not quite level.

The 3inch LCD display is also a bonus as you’ll get a clearer picture of how you’re framing the shot. Also although the camera is capable in taking photos in very low light conditions the built is flash is sure to come in handy. All in all this looks like a really good camera.

Although I’ve covered taking photos of reflections in a couple of previous posts, mainly Reflections Of Sydney and Reflections On Glass, A Religious Photo, I wanted to paste a few more photos that I took of different buildings whilst in Sydney.

You will notice that when taking these sorts of photos the type of building as well as the subject of the reflection can make all the difference. You should therefore keep that in mind when picking your subjects as well as framing your shots.

This first one, unlike the one in the previous post, has larger darker frames which give the photo a completely different look. Also I panned out a bit in this shot so the reflection included a lot more subject matter in the surroundings.

This next two were of the same building but taken on different days.

I played did a bit of a touch up with this next photo using ACDSee. All it took was a click of the mouse and I think it made a whole lot of difference.

You can get your own Free Trial Download of the ACDSee Pro 3 software. That link will let you trial the software for thirty days which is more than enough time to evaluate it.

Yeah, I know some of you are going to call me a big girl because I love taking photos of flowers, but what can I say, flowers are really pretty, and can make for some really stunning photos. The fact that no two flower is really alike means that there is always a huge scope for the amateur photographer to show his stuff.

Roses always make a popular photographic subject. You may pick a pinkish one;

A red one, whose petals look almost velvety;

Then again, perhaps one with a yellowish tinge to it.

Perhaps we should take a shot of a single tulip;

Or a bed of tulips;

Whatever you choose you can be sure that the lighting you choose can make all the difference;

They can be a delicate simple flower;

Or and intricate busy one complete with bugs.

Whatever flower you choose, you can be sure that photo options they can provide is almost endless.
What say we show you just a couple of photos I took of the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the very bridge that Paul Hogan of Crocodile Dundee used to paint before he got famous. If I remember correctly, by the time they finished painting the structure, it was time to start all over again.
I took this particular photo in black and white and it almost looks as if it was taken many years ago as it gives it an almost antique look.

OK, let’s take a little break from photographing drops as I need to play around a little more with setting up some unique water drop splashing equipment so as to get some really unique shots.

The thing with digital cameras is that it allows you to upload the photos to your computer so that you can do a little editing. This may range from cropping, fixing red eyes to something a little more dramatic like this dragon hovering over my front yard.

It was quite simple really, a photo of my favorite pewter dragon, another of the the skyline from my front yard, then you just cut out the dragon and superimpose it over the skyline.
